I have posted every single day this year without fail, but today I was squeezing the deadline. I am pushing the publish button on this very blog entry, way later than I do on any other day.
In fact, I always have something ready to go. Today though, I didn’t… something was holding me back
It was not because I didn’t have anything to write, trust me, I have an acre of material. My mind has years of catching-up as this blogging and writing is a new endeavour and things somehow just flow.
My mum always says I have an imagination. I suppose I do. I know I do. We all do. But we get it trained out of us.
Anyway, back to my day…
I was just having one of them days. I was busy. Busy with life stuff. Like. Busy, busy.
The day just got away from me, but it was a day of achievements. It was a great day. A real cracker of a day.
Then when I got back into my normal days routine, this evening, I wanted to watch a movie. I just wanted to spend the time with my girlfriend having some chocolate and strawberries while watching a good movie. It’s a thing.
The strawberries in China are so good, sweet, tasty and deliciously soft. The chocolate was European. Also so good.
We settled with our food and looked to choose a movie on apple TV. As always there is a lot of selection and we couldn’t quite settle on one, and then I spotted The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. Perfect. A great American movie.
If you have not seen this movie then I recommend it. This is my third time watching it. It is also so good!!
I won’t spoil it for you because you have to take the time out of your own day to watch it. Trust me, you will not regret it… it is the movie for the moment.
My take away from this screening is that it is absolutely perfect to have a vivid imagination and it should be celebrated.
Taking action from your dreams is also to be a course of celebration and something that you should always aim to do. There will be challenges and disappointments and in the end, things will come good… even if it doesn’t feel like it at that moment in time.
Push through the challenges and see them as an opportunity to learn.
My other take away from the movie is just how much splendour there is in the world. The world is a beautiful place and we should work to protect it from ourselves and we should strive to keep it fresh and wonderful for the next generation and the many future generations that are yet to come.
It is their right to get to enjoy it as it should be and not preserved in movie footage, books, magazines or as online content.
When the world wakes up after this pandemic, I hope people take the time to travel and enjoy life, enjoy nature and enjoy each other’s company so much more.
I know I will.
I am glad something was holding me back today and that the release was an excellent movie that made me pause, reflect and take stock of the wonder of the world.
When the time comes to travel. When we can enjoy our freedom of movement again…
Then nothing will hold me back.
The world is too big just to ignore it.
Don’t.
I love connecting with a book or movie so intensely. I have seen the trailers for Walter Mitty but I think I’ll have to go search it out and watch it now.
