A ‘magical’ big spending day!

Today was a big spending day. It was nothing spectacular, just an outlay that was not planned or expected.

Will it leave a hole in the long term F.I.R.E plan? – NOPE.

Did it really matter financially that we went all out on something today? – Nope.

Was it the wrong thing to do because of any risk involved? – Nope

Will the impact be felt later on in the month? – Nope.

Blah, Blah, Blah… NOPE! (or YES!)

I can keep answering nope or even yes, depending on the question you ask because I can justify why I spend a chunk of cash today.

Typically I would be asking myself a ton of questions before any purchase. I would be picking apart large purchases because that is the habit I have built. I would be doubly sure that I have done the right thing. My belt and braces approach to any financial decision – yeah, sad tight-ass. I am chasing time freedom, though.

However, today it was not money that was directly spent on me. It was a splash of the cash on someone else.

It was worth it.

So well worth it.

I benefited because I could see the surprise and the delight on their face, and I knew how much it meant to them.

Embracing the emotions of others is one of the best feelings in the world, and it can lift you ten feet off the ground.

Genuine amplified heartfelt warmth can help the human spirit soar.

The older I get (although I am not that old) and the closer I get to FIRE (Financial Independence Retire Early), the more I see that some things are worth spending cash on. In the end, you can not take the savings and all that other accumulated stuff with you.

My Dad would always say we all leave in the same way as we came in, wearing the same ‘skin pyjamas’ and nothing more and nothing less. My plan was always to give as much away as possible to the people I love and care for. But the timing is crucial so that it makes a positive difference to them no matter how small the amount.

Why store it all up and then dump it on people and risk the wrath of the taxman?

There is a skill in building the wealth for the future, and there will be a skill in depleting the wealth through my later years and paying it forward so it can make a slight difference to others. I want to go out in my skin pyjamas but with a happy smile on my face knowing that I did some good.

In life, there is nothing better than giving help, support, assistance or gifts to others.

That is why we have Christmas, after all.

Today felt like another Christmas Day, and it was magical.

I love Christmas, it is the best time of the year.

Merry Christmas to you all.

Have a great one.
